History:

In October 1865 the forger of drills Friedrich August Mühlhoff created the "Remscheider Drill Factory Fried. August. Mühlhoff " in addition to the since 1837 existing drill factory of his father. As drive for the machines, hones and drop hammers the own steam engine was used. At peak periods six drop hammers were driven by transmission belts in which the borers were forged. At first only drills for joiners, carpenters and carriage builders were produced. Over the years the production range was extended by machine drills for wood, metal, stone as well as soil augers and different special tools. During the difficult post-war period it was good that the steam engine has not been disposed of when the factory was adapted to electricity, because in times when there was no electricity, production could go on. Old records show that it was already very important to produce tools which impressed by long durability.

Products:

The current delivery program contains a broad palette of boring and milling tools for woodworking and plastic treatment as well as for metal, stone, concrete and other materials. Our tools are used by industry, handcraft and do-it-yourselfers. With more than 3,500 products in this division we surely have one of the widest product range for craftsmen. The special range is completed by special designs, which are qualified for nearly every task. Today FAMAG produces with modern CNC-machines employing robotics. Many of our products have unique characteristics and are patent-protected partly worldwide. For example: Bormax³, the all-rounder for all-rounder’s, Bormax? Forstner Bit, traditional Forstner bits and on modern carbide-tipped boring bits, special machine CNC-machines drills with special spirals, etc.

Distribution
The distribution occurs under the brand "FAMAG for a better drilling" through the interior and foreign dealer. In Germany our customers are attended by 13 commercial agents. In the last years we have arranged in European countries agencies that sell parts of our products exclusive to dealers. Mentionable are Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy. Further agencies are projected or rather searched.

Philosophy
For a long time we're not longer content to fabricate products as ever. We rather have the claim, to know the application of the professional handcrafter and fabricate tools for exactly this application, so that also professionals can finish their work with a smile on their face. We produce tools with our almost 170 years old experience, to which the user definitely can have a friendship because of his conviction of the quality. Herewith we distinguish us from our competitors and especially from the Chinese cheap products. A high quality standard, constant enhancements and bettering of the tools define our trading.

Today, the medium-sized company is run by the general managers: graduate engineer Ralf Hunke and Thomas Pomp.
